Don't think that because I talk about Rob Rowe all the time, and post about his music, and have an entire section devoted to Cause and Effect, that's all the music I listen to. I LOVE music. Here are some of my favorite artists.
Neil Diamond (don't you dare make fun of me!)
I was introduced to Neil Diamond's music whilst in the womb. My mom loves him. This is a good portion of the music I grew up with. Yes, some of it's pretty cheesy, but most of it is really pretty good. I especially like his older songs. During the '80's and '90's, I sort of lost touch with his music because I was exploring more and finding other music I liked. But I still love his work from the '60's and '70's. And he is really good live. He puts on a really good show for an old man. I've seen him probably about 8 times. Unfortunately, he's no longer touring.
UB40
My love for UB40 came from my love for Neil Diamond. Their most well known song is their cover of Neil's "Red Red Wine". I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. When I heard more of their songs on the radio, I had to go out and buy their albums. My favorites are Labour of Love II and their self titled album, UB40.
Thievery Corporation
I discovered Thievery Corporation through a TV commercial. I loved the music in the commercial, so I googled it. I checked out some of their other music and fell in love instantly. It's hard to put them into a category. Some of their music is reggae, some is chill, some is Indian inspired, some of their vocals are in French. It's just a nice mixture of things that happen to go really well together. It makes great background music - either for just hanging out at home, or driving around.
Erasure, The Cure, New Order, Pet Shop Boys
Back in the mid '80's, when I was searching for my own kind of music, I kept hearing songs I liked. It turned out they were all by these groups. I'm not familiar with ALL of their music, but most of my favorite songs come from them.
The Smiths/Morrissey
I had heard of The Smiths before, but wasn't familiar with their music. Then I read an interview with Rob from Cause and Effect where he said he liked their music. I figured if he liked them, then they must be good. I got a few of their CD's and fell in love. Great music, love the lyrics. Glad I found them.
Anything Box
I also discovered Anything Box through Cause and Effect. In the liner notes of their first album, C&E thanked Anything Box. Once again, I got curious and checked them out and fell in love! Some of the best music ever! Why are there so many great bands out there that don't hardly get any attention? So not fair!
Mono
I liked their song "Life in Mono" and decided to get their album, "Formica Blues." I loved it. I kept watching for another album from them, but sadly this was their only one. This is one of those that I can just listen to over and over. I especially like listening to it in the Fall - just when it's starting to cool off. I think their music was way ahead of it's time. The album was released in 1997. It's a little chill, with a little trip hop, and kind of a retro sound. It reminds me of old movies. The kind that are from the '60's that take place in Italy or France with women sitting in outdoor cafes and riding Vespas.

Some of these you may not have heard of. I will try to find links to some of their music, but that will have to be later. Stay tuned...
